Event Description
Convocation marks the traditional beginning of the academic year and offers a chance to rededicate ourselves to Drexel’s mission of teaching, research and service to society. The 2015 Convocation ceremony will take place on Thursday, September 17 at 10 a.m. in the Main Building Auditorium. All faculty and professional staff are invited and encouraged to attend Convocation if your duties allow.
Speakers will include President Fry, Provost Blake (in his first Convocation) and Dr. Youngmoo Kim, director of the ExCITe Center, who will deliver a keynote address highlighting the value of interdisciplinary collaboration to our academic enterprise.
Faculty Procession
Convocation begins with a procession by faculty in full academic regalia. Faculty members who plan to attend are asked to RSVP online. If you need regalia, you will have the opportunity to order it courtesy of the Office of the Provost. The deadline for regalia orders has been extended to August 28.
Faculty who are processing should gather at 8:30 a.m. in the third floor atrium of the Bossone Research Enterprise Center. There you can pick up and don your regalia while enjoying continental breakfast with your colleagues. Faculty will begin lining up by college or school at 9:30 a.m., and the procession into the Main Building auditorium will begin promptly at 10 a.m. If you cannot march in the procession but want to participate, please contact the Office of the Provost at 215-895-2200.
Executive Council in the Stage Party
Members of the Executive Council are invited to join trustees and special guests as part of the stage party. Please RSVP online. If you need regalia, you will have the opportunity to order it courtesy of the Office of the Provost. The deadline for regalia orders has been extended to August 28. The stage party should gather in the Office of the President by 9:30 a.m.; continental breakfast will be served beginning at 8:30.
Professional Staff Attendance
Members of the professional staff are invited to arrive at the Main Building Auditorium by 10 a.m. to be seated for the ceremony. Please RSVP online so that the organizers have an idea of how many people will attend. Check with your supervisor before attending.
Reception
A reception for all attendees will be held immediately after the Convocation ceremony in the Great Court of the Main Building. |
