Event Description
Memory Survives: History, Psychology, and Disaster Recovery - a research workshop hosted by the Department of History.

Waves subside and fires are extinguished, but the memory of disaster survives.  Memories can be painful and destructive—memory also provides the basis for hope and endurance long beyond the disaster.  This workshop—featuring both local and visiting Japanese scholars—explores various modes of disaster recovery, including community engagement, historic preservation, the role of culture and the arts in disaster recovery, and disaster memorialization.

Please join us for all or part of this unique day-long exploration, including research panels and a film screening of Toki Shiiki Santos's Threshold: Whispers of Fukushima.
