Event Description
Join paleo-illustrator Jason Poole for a three-part class on dinosaur illustration techniques. We’ve taken our popular Sketch-a-Saurus class and given you even more! In this three-part class, Dinosaur Hall Manager and paleo-illustrator Jason Poole will share the history of dinosaur illustration before digging into dinosaurs’ anatomy and illustration techniques. He will cover capturing motion, composition, lighting using models, utilizing anatomical references to guide your reconstruction, and good practices with pen, ink, and pencil. The group will examine fossils from our Paleontology Collection, exhibits in Dinosaur Hall, and live animals. Poole has had his artwork published in National Geographic Magazine, Science, National Geographic World, National Geographic television specials, several museum exhibits, and other publications.
Sketching experience is recommended to fully enjoy this class. For those who took our March 2012 Sketch-a-Saurus workshop, this class will offer opportunities to perfect your skills.
The dates for this class are November 3, 10, and 17. $105 members, $120 nonmembers for three-session series Maximum 15 participants (or up to 20 if a group is registering) Teachers can earn four Act 48 credits |
