Event Description The School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems at Drexel University, in collaboration with the Philadelphia Chapter of the Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society of IEEE and Health-in-Place Initiative from Disruptive Women in Health Care and Amplify Public Affairs is pleased to present a one-day workshop held in the Bossone Research Center, 3141 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104: The Time Has Come: Translating Research in Chronobiology and Sleep into Practical Applications On September 14, 2012, Drexel University will host an all-day event designed to showcase research in the fields of chronobiology and sleep in order to promote collaboration and translation of this research into practical applications. There will be three main sessions which will provide overviews of the fields followed by breakout sessions focused on specific topics of interest. Speakers include faculty from Drexel University, the University of Pennsylvania and Johns Hopkins University as well as representatives from laboratories at Thomas Jefferson University and Pulsar Informatics. The main topics include biological rhythms, circadian rhythms and sleep & sleep deprivation. Breakout session topics include discussions on central nervous system rhythms; seasonal rhythms & seasonal affective disorder; chronobiology and cancer; applications of chronobiology and lighting to architecture and building designs; sleep & performance and sleep & health.
