Event Description
Join Academy scientists Paul Overbeck and Rich Horwitz as they use dip nets, seines, and electricity (using a backpack electrofishing unit) to catch and release wild fish populations.
Grab your waders and jump right in, or stay on the bank caring for captured fish, measuring fish, and recording field data! On this year’s trip we are exploring the lake and river system at Batsto Village in Wharton State Forest, New Jersey. This trip offers a unique opportunity to participate in real Academy research while learning about Pine Barrens stream ecology and migratory fish.
