Understanding and Treating Disordered Eating and Body Image Dissatisfaction (15 Wellness Points)*
Start Date: 4/24/2018Start Time: 12:00 PM
End Date: 4/24/2018End Time: 1:00 PM

Event Description

Disordered eating refers to a wide range of problematic eating behaviors that can have a negative impact on a person’s emotional, social, and physical well-being. Behaviors such as loss of control eating, emotional eating, obsessive calorie counting, significant weight fluctuations, or a rigid focus on only eating the “right” kind of foods are common behaviors for many adults that can have a dramatic impact on quality of life.

Luckily, a number of evidence-based treatment approaches exist to help individuals develop a more healthy and flexible approach to food so that they can reduce disordered eating behaviors. In the current workshop, we’ll review the factors that maintain disordered eating symptoms and discuss a number of approaches one can use to improve eating behaviors.

Adrienne Juarascio, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist who is the current director of the DELTA clinic (Drexel’s Eating and Weight Loss Treatment and Assessment Clinic) as well as the director of training at the WELL Center (The Weight, Eating, and Lifestyle Sciences Center at Drexel). In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Juarascio also is the lead developer on several new innovative treatment approaches for eating pathology and is the primary investigator on several ongoing clinical trials at Drexel.

This workshop is open to all faculty and staff. Please feel free to bring your lunch to this session. Registration to attend in-person is required in Career Pathway or to attend the live webstream.
