Title: Dean's Seminar: The Eye's Mind: Tracking the Eyes to Study the Mind

Speaker: Dr. Daniel Mirman, assistant professor of psychology

Even simple everyday tasks require our minds to work extremely quickly and deal with tremendous uncertainty. Just understanding spoken language requires recognizing about 150 words per minute from different kinds of speakers, typically in the presence of background noise. Eye-tracking has emerged as a very useful tool for understanding these rapid cognitive processes, especially during spoken language comprehension. This talk will describe three key principles of cognitive processing that make fast, reliable speech comprehension possible.

This event is free and open to the Drexel community. Light refreshments will be served.
