2015 PhillyCHI UX Workshop Series: “Projects, Planning, Processes, People” with Michael Carvin
This year, PhillyCHI and Drexel CCI have organized an educational workshop series to introduce beginner practitioners, students, and professionals working in digital who are interested learning about topics in usability, user experience, and information architecture.
The next workshop in the series is on planning UX projects taught by Michael Carvin.

Workshop Description
A new project crosses your desk. Travel, adventure, excitement! Then you have to figure out how to plan your piece, and that's where things can go sideways. The "wrong" work was sold, or too much is expected in too little time. Or you might not have even been part of the planning team at all.
- Understanding the client and their ask
- Aligning methods and techniques to the ask
- Estimating and resource planning
- Presenting options (or “not being a purist”)
- Getting buy-in with team and client/stakeholders
- Reporting progress and “managing up"
About the Instructor
Michael Carvin is an independent consultant who works to improve the relationship between organizations and their customers. He has consulted with LinkedIn, American Red Cross, Thomson Reuters, BarclayCard and other financial/insurance, governmental and non-profit sectors independently and alongside some of the east coast’s leading agencies.
