Event Description

The Drexel Urban Health Collaborative Black Immigrant Working Group presents “Understanding the Experiences of New Black Immigrants in Philadelphia: Academic-Community Advocacy Efforts,” an online panel composed of Black immigrant leaders and advocates to shed light on the unique challenges, and resilience of Black migrants who are being bussed into Philadelphia.

This event is part of the Philadelphia Office of Immigrant Affairs’ celebration of Immigrant Heritage Month, in which all residents explore their heritage and celebrate the shared diversity that brings us to each other. It’s also a chance to highlight the important role of immigration in the U.S. and recognize the many contributions immigrants bring to our country. A national event, Immigrant Heritage Month uses storytelling to highlight the diversity of immigrant communities and experiences. Throughout the month, local organizations and City agencies will offer events and activities. Some of these events include: Storytelling and community conversations, film screenings, street festivals, food tastings, flag raisings and much more!
