End Date: 1/14/2019End Time: 2:00 PM
Event Description
Epidemiology and Biostatistics Seminar Series Presents: Mufaro Kanyangarara, PhD, assistant scientist at the Department of International Health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health

Malaria remains a public health problem, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa which accounts for 90 percent of the burden. In recent years, remarkable reductions in malaria incidence and mortality have spurred renewed commitment to malaria elimination. Knowledge of the changing epidemiology of malaria transmission, particularly who is at risk and when and where transmission occurs has implications for national and regional efforts to achieve malaria elimination. Kanyangarara holds a doctoral degree in International Health (2016) and an MSc in Biostatistics (2009). Her research interests include: infectious disease epidemiology and control, and maternal, newborn and child health.
