Start Date: 1/14/2021Start Time: 7:00 PM
End Date: 1/14/2021End Time: 8:00 PM
Event Description
What does the life of Martin Luther King Jr tell us about US culture today? Why does the celebration of his birthday focus on community service? What does that say about what people in the US value?

Join this event for international students and the Drexel community to explore how the United States celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King. Sharde Johnson from Drexel’s Center for Black Culture together with Drexel students who have participated in community service and service learning will share their perspectives. In this interactive discussion, they will share their personal thoughts on Dr. King’s legacy, and their experience with community service. Participants will gain new insights about the holiday and Dr. King’s legacy. Moderated by ELC and ISSS staff, this one-hour zoom session is designed to be an informal sharing of ideas.
