Dornsife COVID-19 Journal Club Discussion

Event Description
Join the Dornsife COVID-19 Journal Club for a discussion of the paper “Emergence and rapid spread of a new severe acute respiratory syndrome-related coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) lineage with multiple spike mutations in South Africa” by Houriiyah Tegally and colleagues from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Michael LeVasseur, PhD, MPH, assistant professor of epidemiology and biostatistics at Dornsife, will discuss the paper, which was uploaded to the MedRxiv preprint server on December 22, 2020. The paper describes the 501Y.V2 or “South African” variant of SARS-CoV-2 and the functional mutations within the receptor-binding domain of the Spike protein.
