In observation of Human Trafficking Awareness Month (January), this Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Speaker Series webinar is the first of a 2-part series exploring the topic of human trafficking.

Speakers:

• Dawn Schiller, MA is the Training Director, L.A. County Project for the Coalition to Abolish Slavery & Trafficking (CAST). Dawn is an expert survivor-leader in the anti-trafficking, domestic violence and sexual assault movements. Abused and trafficked on the streets of Hollywood in her youth her and later throughout South East Asia, her years of struggle to survivorship, education, and service to others offer valuable first-hand insight to advocates. Dawn is a violence and human trafficking expert consultant with the U.S. Dept. of Justice Office for Victims of Crime, the Dept. of Health & Human Services Office on Trafficking in Persons (NHTTAC) and the U.S. Dept. of State’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons.
• Alexis Polen serves as Region III Liaison with the HHS Office on Trafficking in Persons where she supports HHS Administration for Children and Families regional anti-trafficking workgroups and interstate anti-trafficking initiatives. Polen serves as a Project Officer providing oversight to Human Trafficking Youth Prevention Education Demonstration Program grants and is the Contracting Officer Representative for the National Human Trafficking Training and Technical Assistance Center. 
• Trish Danner serves as Region III Outreach Specialist for the U.S. Dept of Health & Human Services. She also serves on the Region III Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force. She is the lead of the Regional Interdisciplinary Collaborative Working to End Human Trafficking (the RIC). The RIC consists of representatives from OTIP, ORR, and Polaris and federal representation of the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Health, Health Resources and Services Association, the Administration of Children and Families, and the Office of the Regional Director. 
• Christine Woolslayer serves as a Public Health Advisor for the U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health, in Region III, located in Philadelphia. In this capacity, she implements prevention related activities in the Region, including serving as the Regional Women’s Health Analyst, Regional Minority Health Analyst and the co-chair for the Region III Anti-Trafficking Federal Interagency Task Force.
