Event Description
At this Health Management and Policy Department event, attendees will hear from Whitney Zahnd, PhD, an assistant professor in the Department of Health Management and Policy in the College of Public Health at the University of Iowa and a full member of the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Through the Advancing Cancer and Rural Equity (ACRE) Lab, she works with students to address inequities in cancer across the continuum and to evaluate access to healthcare services for rural populations.
Zahnd received her BS in microbiology and her MS and PhD in community health from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and completed post-doctoral training from the University of South Carolina Rural & Minority Health Research Center.
This presentation will describe the role of Medicare-certified rural health clinics, federally qualified health centers, critical access hospitals, and rural prospective payment system hospitals in providing important services across the cancer continuum to improve health equity for rural populations.
