The Theatre Program of the Department of Performing Arts are excited to welcome Broadway veteran Kimberly Marable back for a night of conversation and audience Q&A. Kimberly will host special guests Douglas Lyons and Adam Hyndman – both acclaimed, multi-skilled creative artists on Broadway and beyond – for a conversation on “the hyphenated artist.” How do we engage in the arts in multiple ways? What are the multiple ways we exist as humans?
Douglas Lyons is an actor, writer, director, composer, and playwright. Writing credits include Fraggle Rock (Apple TV), Polkadots (Off Broadway Alliance Winner Best Family Show, Atlantic Theater Company), Chicken and Biscuits (Queens Theatre), Sunshine (Long Wharf Theatre), Pete(Her)Pan (Pace New Musicals), Five Points (world premiere Theater Latte Da), now directed by Hamilton's Andy Blankenbuehler, Fatigue with Jodi Piccoult, We The People (TheatreworksUSA) and The Hamlet Remix. Performance Credits include Beautiful (Original Cast) and The Book of Mormon on Broadway, and tours of Rent, Dreamgirls and The Book of Mormon 1st National. Douglas is also the founder of The Next Wave Initiative, a scholarship program dedicated to supporting the future of Black Theater artists. @chocolatehipster
Adam Hyndman is a performing artist, producer, and activist. He has worked extensively in the arts, performing on stage and screen with roles on Broadway and television. Some notable credits include: NBC’s The Sing Off; Children Of Eden at the Kennedy Center; and Aladdin, Once On This Island, and Hadestown, all on Broadway. Adam was a co-producer for The Inheritance on Broadway, for which he earned a Drama Desk Award and a Tony Award Nomination. He is currently incubating several projects as an independent producer as well as within the Tony Award winning team at Octopus Theatricals. Adam uses his experiences working with narratives to challenge his vision for the world, and it leads him to opportunities in and out of the arts. He is passionate about creating possibilities for people to connect and activate their purpose. Adam is honored to serve on the board of directors for Broadway For Racial Justice where he is specifically charged with curating community through mentorship and volunteer programs. His purpose in this work is for disruption, radical accessibility, and reconciliation, and he continues this as a founder of The Industry Standard Group (a community fund for BIPOC folks to invest and produce in commercial theater, the first of its kind). As an individual committed to excellence and progressive achievement through collaboration, he works toward the manifestation of a diverse and inclusive world. Adam graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Cultural Anthropology and minors in theater and dance at The Lewis Center for the Arts where he has returned as a guest teaching artist for the program in Musical Theater. Kimberly Marable has spent the last 14 years as a working actor. Her Broadway appearances include The Lion King (u/s Nala, Shenzi, Sarabi) and Sister Act (u/s Deloris van Cartier). Most notably, she is an original cast member of the Tony and GRAMMY Award winning musical Hadestown on Broadway where she understudies Persephone and a Fate. Her international touring credits include The Book of Mormon, Sister Act (u/s Deloris van Cartier), Dreamgirls, Hairspray, and The Wedding Singer (u/s Linda). Kimberly has performed at regional theaters including The Signature in Arlington, VA and Arkansas Repertory Theatre ("The Rep") in Little Rock, AR. She recently participated in the pre-Broadway development of The Wanderer with New Kids on the Block's Joey McIntyre, which is set to make its world premiere at
