Event Description The first peer-reviewed research on "Hip-hop Based Education" in K-12 schools was published thirty years ago. In 2022, amidst the anti-CRT backlash, the field faces new questions regarding hip-hop pedagogy's role, purpose, and function in K-12 and ed schools. In this presentation, H. Bernard Hall, PhD, Assistant Professor of Urban Teacher Education in Drexel University's School of Education, shares research from his ongoing study of culturally responsive hip-hop ELA pedagogies in West Philadelphia Promise Neighborhood Schools.
