A Healthier U is offering a limited number of scholarships for a
CPR/First Aid/AED course for faculty and professional staff, taught by instructors
from the American Red Cross. The scholarship will cover the entire cost of this
course. The course will be presented in a “blended learning” format, meaning that
there will be both an online and an in-person component followed by an exam.
·
Online
Component: The first portion of the class will be offered online and will
take an average of 5 hours to complete at home. The online component will be
available to participants for two weeks before their in-person skills portion
and exam.
·
In-Person
Skills Session: The second portion of the class will be a 2.5-hour,
in-person skills session offered on the University City Campus. During the
skills portion, participants must show a certificate of completion for the
online portion of the course. At the skills session, participants will receive
hands-on instruction about how to perform CPR.
At the end of the skills session, you must be able to demonstrate
resuscitation techniques in order to complete the class and become CPR/AED
certified by the Red Cross.
You must be able to commit to
the 2.5-hour, in-person session at the University City Campus (Behrakis Grand
Hall, 33rd and Chestnut Streets) on Wednesday, March 15, from noon-2:30
p.m. in order to apply for this opportunity.
