Event Description
On behalf of Drexel NAACP, Drexel Office of the Provost, and Drexel Student Center for Inclusion and Culture, We would like to invite you to the Black Faculty and Student Meet and Greet. This event will take place on Monday, March 20th from 4-6pm in Behrakis Grand Hall. For this event, we are inviting you to give your student and faculty groups (i.e NSBE, DASA, LSAMP, Gospel Choir, etc.) the opportunity to reserve a table to showcase your group to students who may not otherwise know that groups such as these are in existence. We are also asking for faculty from each department (Engineering, humanities, Lebow, Westphal, Biology, Chemistry, etc.) to participate within the tabeling event in an attempt to create student-faculty relationships.
The purpose of this event is to build relationships between Black students and faculty on campus. We believe that if we begin to build these bridges, student GPA's will go up due to the mentor-mentee relationships that will be created, and Drexel will begin to show physical traits of inclusion due to the visible formation of a Black community on campus.
This event will consist of 3 segments which will include tabeling, performances and/or a student leader and faculty panel, concluding with bonding activities to help mold those relationships between the students and faculty within a department.
We are asking for the assistance of groups such as the Black Faculty and Professional Staff Association with spreading the word to other Black faculty members throughout campus so that every department can be represented, as well as from all of the student groups in helping to assure that we have a great student turnout. We are also inviting all of the Fraternities and Sororities, as well as the Drexel African Dance team to perform if possible.
If you are able to attend, we ask that you RSVP by 2pm on Monday, March 13th. Also if you or your group wish to perform, we ask that you let us know as soon as possible.
