Thulasi was born in a remote village in India. She belongs to the Dalit caste, a caste deemed "untouchable" by Indian society. Her family earns less than $2/day. After graduating from Shanti Bhavan boarding school, Thualsi earned a full-ride to study Marketing and International Political Economics at the College of Idaho.
