Picture a Scientist, a 93-minute documentary film chronicles the groundswell of researchers who are writing a new chapter for women scientists. A biologist, a chemist and a geologist lead viewers on a journey deep into their own experiences in the sciences, overcoming brutal harassment, institutional discrimination, and years of subtle slights to revolutionize the culture of science. From cramped laboratories to spectacular field sites, we also encounter scientific luminaries who provide new perspectives on how to make science itself more diverse, equitable, and open to all.

The discussion will be moderated by Jui Hanamshet, a senior studying Computer Engineering. She is passionate about diversity in STEM and has held leadership roles in Drexel Society of Women Engineers and Women in Computing Society (WiCS). She is currently the President of WiCS. Additionally, she teaches middle school girls how to code. Having worked in the tech industry for co-ops, Jui has personally experienced what it is like to be the only woman in the room. She is excited to be working on a diverse team at Microsoft upon graduation.
