Drexel University’s Women’s and Gender Studies program presents: Teaching in the Era of Black Lives Matter Professor Duchess Harris is professor and chair of American studies at Macalester College. She is the author of five books; her most recent book, "Race and Policing"with Rebecca Rissman, examines recent incidents of minorities in police custody, delving into the historical institutions and laws that underpin today’s system and exploring what police departments and the communities they serve are doing to improve communication and relationships. Harris also co-authored "Hidden Human Computers: The Black Women of NASA" and "Black Lives Matter" with Sue Bradford Edwards, (Essential Library), authored "Black Feminist Politics from Kennedy to Clinton/Obama"(Palgrave Macmillan), and published an edited volume with Bruce Baum, "Racially Writing the Republic: Racists, Race Rebels, and Transformations of American Identity" (Duke University Press).
