A Shaker of Science: A Nontraditional Path to Paleontology
Start Date: 5/20/2021Start Time: 5:30 PM
End Date: 5/20/2021End Time: 6:30 PM

Event Description

A Shaker of Science is a pay-what-you-wish, interactive virtual happy hour where Academy scientists and staff can share their stories and adventures in a casual setting.

Who hasn’t, at some point in their life, wanted to be a paleontologist, a scientist who studies some of the most awe-inspiring creatures to ever have inhabited planet Earth?

This month’s featured speaker reached that dream job of paleontologist, but in a rather surprising way. Tia Ruppert from the Bighorn Basin Paleontological Institute, manager of the Fossil Prep Lab at the Academy, will share with us her unique journey to professional paleontologist and what it’s like working with the public, especially young children who have pretty impressive paleontological chops of their own!

Put down your rock hammer, grab a drink and settle in for a virtual happy hour with A Shaker of Science.
