Event Description
Exhibition from April 14, 2017 through June 19, 2017. The Drexel Collection was founded in 1891 as one of the original departments of the Drexel Institute of Art, Science and Industry. The museum was intended to showcase good design in the decorative and industrial arts both for study by students and for the “popular education of the city.”
This exhibition demonstrates the variety of ways the collection functions as a teaching tool. Students in the Museum Leadership program learn how to plan and design an exhibition. Students interested in the history of art use the collections as a hands-on training ground. Student writers use objects for inspiration. An important part of the University since its founding, the Drexel Collection continues to provide a significant resource to the Drexel community and the public.
The exhibition is on display in the Rincliffe Gallery on the third floor of Main Building at 3141 Chestnut St. from April 14th through June 19th. The Rincliffe Gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Gallery is free and open to the public. |
