Advancing Black Liberation In and Through STEM Education

Event Description
This presentation will examine the current state of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) endeavors within postsecondary STEM education and the extent to which they facilitate liberatory, unbounded possibilities for Black people. Leveraging critical, ecological, strengths-based and future oriented framework, implications for transformative, structural-cultural and ideological change are provided as radical possibilities for fostering Black liberation.

About the Speaker
Dr. Terrell Morton, University of Missouri
 
Dr. Terrell R. Morton (@DrTRMorton) is an Assistant Professor of Identity & Justice in STEM Education at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he works in Learning, Teaching, and Curriculum Department of the College of Education and Human Development. He is an alumnus of North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, graduating with a bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He also obtained a Master of Science in Neuroscience from the University of Miami, and a PhD in Education, concentration Learning Sciences and Psychological Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
