Continuing STEM Education Academy
Presenter: Kareem Edouard, PhD This program is designed to provide additional STEM training opportunities through the development of “maker” skills to assist high school graduation-age students of the West Philadelphia Promise Neighborhood.
Black Girls STEAMing Through Dance Presenters: Ayana Allen-Handy, PhD Raja Schaar Valerie Ifill Michelle Rogers, PhD Moe Woodard Destiny Bugg Kalila Dozier Alicia Lipsey Black Girls STEAMing through Dance (BSGD) engages Black Girls in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math-related activities. We combine Coding, Design, and Dance to motivate the Black Girls in the West Philadelphia Community to explore STEAM skills and connect with their bodies.
Drexel Summer Literacy Camp Presenters: Whitney Impellizeri, EdD Vera Lee, EdD Katie Mathew, PhD candidate The Drexel literacy camp supports the reading needs of students in grades 3-5 who are in need of extra reading support. The camp offers a balanced approach to literacy, which aims to help children improve their decoding and spelling skills, develop their reading comprehension strategies, and engage in meaningful writing activities.
