Counter Narratives: Monumental Ideas Paul Farber, Director of Monument Lab
Farber’s research and curatorial projects explore transnational urban history, cultural memory, and creative approaches to civic engagement. At Monument Lab they help envision a society where monuments are dynamic and defined by their meaning, not by their hardened immovable and untouchable status. By disrupting the status quo of how monuments are made, preserved, and interpreted, they hope to contribute to a future society defined by joy, regeneration, and repair. Paul M. Farber is Director of Monument Lab. Farber is author of A Wall of Our Own: An American History of the Berlin Wall and co-editor of Monument Lab: Creative Speculations for Philadelphia. He also currently serves as Senior Research Scholar at the Center for Public Art & Space at the University of Pennsylvania Weitzman School of Design. |
