End Date: 5/2/2022End Time: 1:00 PM
Event Description

In this brief, interactive presentation participants will learn about the health and wellness benefits of simple art practices that may be used for stress management, wellness, and community connection. Participants are asked to have drawing paper and colored pencils on hand if possible to engage in a few art practices that can be utilized in work, school, and home settings to provide space for de-compression, relaxation, and reflection.

Kathryn is a PhD candidate at Drexel University and a board-certified art therapist and licensed professional counselor with over 22 years of clinical experience. She is the owner and clinical director of Parent to Child in Philadelphia. Spark, her non-profit, provides art therapy services to underserved communities within the Philadelphia school system; to date, having reached over 400 children with a wide impact on school and family communities. Kathryn’s research focuses on the intersection of art therapy and art education and considers the delivery of art therapy services in non-traditional settings such as schools and museums. She is conducting research into museum practice and art therapy and her dissertation is focused on the impact of art therapy on emergent literacy in a high-needs preschool.
