Event Description
This event will
highlight excellence in music, theatre and dance from this extraordinary year. Here
are highlights of each area:
From Music: Hannah Sturges (EAM, '21) is preparing a violin recital this term to complete her minor in music performance. She is preparing pieces from Black American composers including Sometimes I Feel Like A Motherless Child,
from Two Negro Spirituals for Violin and Piano arranged by Florence Price. Hannah will present by speaking briefly about the composers and works and then perform an excerpt.
From Theatre: Theater Program Faculty member Bill Fennelly will present a student from the Screenwriting/Playwriting program who wrote a play as part of the Page-To-Stage class under the mentorship of Professor Bruce Graham. This play was developed and given a script in hand reading working with student actors and a professional director as part of the NewWorks Festival.
From Technical Theatre: Music Industry student
Julia McIntyre will discuss working on the sound editing for the NewWorks Festival Plays in the winter. Julia will discuss the process of how she
edited and improved the sound for the final version of the video of the play to be streamed online.
From Dance: Four undergraduate dance majors involved with our Rankin scholar Dawn Stoppiello from Troika Ranch will show the collaborative dance and digital media pieces they have been
creating in collaboration with Digital Media graduate students enrolled in the New Media Projects course, taught by Emil Polyak. |
