Exploring Montage with Professor Mark Willie
Instructor: Mark Willie, Associate Program Director and Teaching Professor, Graphic Design
Montage is a complex expression of metaphor or storytelling that can be created by piecing together different elements into a single image. Artists use disparate and often jarring juxtapositions of images (and words) to present interpretations of concepts, ideas and (sometimes surreal) views of the world that can be challenging and revelatory.
Examples of exercises in visual language to be explored through various aspects of montage will be presented: found and repurposed imagery, object, drawing and original photography using techniques both analog and digital, cutting and pasting, layering and manipulation. We welcome both students and teachers to join this webinar.
