End Date: 5/5/2022End Time: 6:30 PM
Event Description
Millions of people marched into the streets during the Arab Spring, including large numbers of women, making demands for social justice and democracy. This shattered long lasting conceptions about peoples’ aspirations in the region. More than ten years after the Arab Spring, this speaker event aims at shedding light on the causes and outcomes of the uprisings. Despite the repeated failures and destruction caused by the unrest, the quest for democracy and social change continues.

He is a specialist on regimes and governance in the Middle East, especially in Arab monarchies like Jordan, Kuwait, and Morocco.Hind Ahmed Zaki is an Assistant Professor of Political Science, with a joint appointment in the department of Language, Culture, and Literature at the University of Connecticut. She is a specialist in comparative politics with emphasis on gender and politics and the Middle East and North Africa.
