Event Description Join Professor Jonson Miller, Department of History, College of Arts & Sciences and the Office of Veteran Student Services for this interesting talk hosted during the University Family Weekend. Drexel University experienced the Vietnam War much as did
any other school or the rest of America, with community members expressing both
support for and opposition to the war. Meanwhile, Drexel participated in a
national transformation of ROTC. Then, in the 1980s, the Drexel community
joined in a national reassessment of the war and how its veterans were
remembered. All of this, however, was so different from Drexel's national
leadership during the two World Wars, when the government asked Drexel and the
nation for support. Not asked for support during the Vietnam War, the Drexel
community provided little.
