Event Description
The CASTLE Pedagogical Happy Hour is a monthly program hosted by the Center for the Advancement of STEM Teaching and Learning Excellence (CASTLE) and sponsored by a grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI). This program aims to provide Drexel faculty and staff with an opportunity to discuss effective teaching practices in their classrooms.
The event offers a casual environment for faculty to share ideas about STEM teaching and learning; while enjoying refreshments.
The next CASTLE Pedagogical Happy Hour will be on Thursday, June 1st and features Pavel Grinfeld, PhD, Associate Professor; Mathematics. Dr. Grinfeld's talk is titled "A Case for Online Learning System in a University Setting."
The CASTLE Pedagogical Happy Hour features a current faculty member who will present a brief overview of an effective teaching strategy utilized in their classroom or laboratory. The presentations are then followed by audience Q&A and discussion.
Speakers are self-nominated or nominated by other faculty members to discuss their own ideas and methods of STEM teaching and learning. CASTLE hopes this event will lead to greater conversation and debate on pedagogical methods employed in the classroom. |
