Event Description
Academy members of all ages are invited to join our
researchers to learn about macroinvertebrates and why they’re so important. In
the 1940s, Academy researcher Dr. Ruth Patrick developed a method of assessing
the health of a waterway by studying the life found within it, including
macroinvertebrates (insects, crayfish, snails and more). Nearly 80 years later,
studying the macroinvertebrates collected from a waterway is still a
fundamental component of water quality research.
The presentation will be followed by a Q&A with
the scientists. You can submit your questions in advance by emailing membership@ansp.org.
