Dissertation Defense: Supervised Consumption Sites and Infectious Disease Risk among PWID
Start Date: 6/29/2022Start Time: 12:00 PM
End Date: 6/29/2022End Time: 1:00 PM
Event Description

Despite the success of needle and syringe programs in slowing the spread of HIV among people who inject drugs (PWID), recent outbreaks of HIV in this population are of growing concern. Supervised consumption sites are another harm reduction tool that can be leveraged to increase the supply and use of sterile injection equipment, and their use has been found to be associated with decreased syringe sharing.

In this dissertation defense, Tanner Nassau, MPH, will examine the relationship between supervised consumption sites use and syringe sharing in the era of synthetic opioids.
