Scientist Saturday: The Diversity of Algae
Start Date: 8/17/2019Start Time: 1:00 PM
End Date: 8/17/2019End Time: 4:00 PM
Event Description

Meet Drexel University graduate student Laura Aycock, who studies algae. Algae are a diverse group of photosynthetic organisms that are found in almost all aquatic environments. Photosynthetic organisms convert the sun’s light into nutrients. Algae produce most of the earth’s oxygen and are a valuable tool in assessing water quality.

Get first-hand experience viewing algae samples under a microscope and identifying different species. Learn how algae are used to help determine water quality and aid in environmental monitoring of aquatic systems.
