Event Description
Join the Dornsife COVID-19 Journal Club for a discussion of the paper “Description of COVID-19 in HIV-infected individuals: a single-centre, prospective cohort,” by Pilar Vizcarra and colleagues from the Department of Infectious Diseases, Hospital Universitario Ramón y Cajal, Madrid, Spain. Dr. Amy Althoff (Medicine/Infectious Disease) will discuss the paper, which was published in Lancet HIV on May 28, 2020.

The paper describes SARS-CoV-2 infection among a cohort of 51 HIV-positive patients in Madrid. Given the controversies regarding the role of some antiretrovirals on the prevention or treatment of SARS-CoV-2, as well as the influence of immune dysfunction on clinical presentation, this paper provides some insights into the relationship between these diseases.

Drexel staff, faculty and students are welcome to take part in this discussion.
