The Dornsife Undergraduate Student Government Organization, Circle K International, and CHP Club recently partnered with Drexel Students for Sensible Drug Policy and other community organizations to host a Clothing and Hygiene Supply Drive for "The Everywhere Project," a harm reduction nonprofit expanding the reach of food, clothing, clean syringes, naloxone & overdose reversal training, fentanyl testing strips, and safer use supplies in Philly.

Exhibition from December 1, 2022 through June 1, 2023. Tell Us How You Really Feel! is an exhibition of student, faculty and alumni artwork examining the aforementioned concepts. Contributing artists are asked to consider the following prompt: "Create a visual representation of a time in your life when you felt emotion that was too hard to put into words." The artist's responses will be presented in the Drexel Founding Collection's Rincliffe Gallery in an effort to show the practical application of empathy through art. During the exhibition artists' work will be sold, if they so choose, with half the proceeds donated to The Jed Foundation and The Trevor Project to support ongoing mental health resources for young peoples. This talk will discuss how general chemistry exam items can be made more accessible to English language learners. We will examine sample exam items and how these items can be systematically modified to be more accessible. Join the Faculty Institutional Recruitment for Sustainable Transformation (FIRST) program for their Health Equity Seminar series, a Drexel-wide forum to discuss exciting work and ideas related to health equity.

This monthly series includes Drexel-based and invited external speakers whose work is relevant to health disparities research, ranging from etiology to intervention and policy.

In February, attendees will hear from Usama Bilal, MD, PhD, MPH, an assistant professor in the Urban Health Collaborative and the department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics at Dornsife.

Talk Title: "Inequalities in life expectancy in the Americas"

In this talk, he will summarize his work describing inequalities in longevity in the US and in Latin America. He will review both spatial descriptions of the inequalities between and within cities, as well as new work describing within-area lifespan variations.

Faculty Workshop: Carliss Chatman - Washington and Lee University (2/16/2023)

Professor Chatman teaches an array of business law, commercial law, and ethics classes including: Contracts and Sales and Leases; Agency and Unincorporated Entities, Corporations, Business Associations, and Securities Regulation; Professional Responsibility; and a Transactional Skills Simulation course with a Mergers and Acquisitions focus that incorporates corporate law and UCC Article 9. Her scholarship interests are in the fields of corporate law, ethics, and civil procedure. Her scholarship is largely influenced by 11 years of legal practice in complex commercial litigation, mass tort litigation and the representation of small and start-up businesses in the United States and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. As a result, her scholarship is intersectional with a focus on issues at the heart of commercial litigation: the interplay of business entities, government and natural persons.

Exhibition from March 11, 2022 through March 2023. On March 11, the Anthony J. Drexel Picture Gallery in the Main Building will open A New Kind of House, a year-long exhibition celebrating eight years of Writers Room—a university-community literary arts program engaged in creative placemaking and art for social justice. The photography and writing of students and neighbors, displayed alongside and in conversation with pieces from The Drexel Collection, will engage in a rich dialogue about the changing face of our university and surrounding neighborhoods.

Writers Room is a diverse, intergenerational collective of students/alumni, faculty/staff, and neighborhood residents whose work demonstrates a desire for collaborative opportunities in our joint communities. A New Kind of House is created in partnership between Writers Room, ArtistYear and The Drexel Collection. Supported in part by Canon CSA and the Philadelphia Cultural Fund. The exhibition is curated by Lori Waselchuk.

Physics Colloquium: A measured approach toward long-range entangled matter (2/16/2023)

Research Faculty at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics

Long-range entangled quantum matter encompasses a wealth of fascinating phenomena including fractionalization and criticality. I will show how quantum dynamics involving measurements can both enable new kinds of long-range entangled states and facilitate their realization on quantum simulators. In the first part, I will illustrate how competing measurements along with unitary time evolution can give rise to distinct universality classes of non-equilibrium criticality. In the second part, I will show how measurements and unitary evolution conditioned on the measurement outcomes (“adaptive quantum circuits”) enable efficient preparation of long-range entangled matter. I will present three classes of protocols inspired by distinct physical insights, including tensor networks, renormalization, and partons. A large class of topological orders, including chiral topological order akin to fractional quantum Hall states, can be prepared in a time independent of system size, and critical states and non-abelian topological orders can be prepared in depth scaling logarithmically with system size.

Public Safety’s self-protection program, SAFE, aims to give Drexel students, faculty and staff the practical skills, resources and knowledge you can use to increase your personal safety and protect yourself in an unsafe situation. The program focuses on your mindset, self-awareness, techniques that could assist in the event of a physical assault, and information on how and to whom you should report incidents and any safety concerns.

About the Instructors
Instructors are comprised of a group of personnel from different parts of the University, including the police department, public safety, and other departments. They undergo a rigorous training course with emphasis on learning the techniques taught in this class. Most of the techniques were influenced by several forms of martial arts such as: Tang Soo Do, Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu, with emphasis on gross motor-skill movements.
