The Dornsife Undergraduate Student Government Organization, Circle K International, and CHP Club recently partnered with Drexel Students for Sensible Drug Policy and other community organizations to host a Clothing and Hygiene Supply Drive for "The Everywhere Project," a harm reduction nonprofit expanding the reach of food, clothing, clean syringes, naloxone & overdose reversal training, fentanyl testing strips, and safer use supplies in Philly.

Exhibition from December 1, 2022 through June 1, 2023. Tell Us How You Really Feel! is an exhibition of student, faculty and alumni artwork examining the aforementioned concepts. Contributing artists are asked to consider the following prompt: "Create a visual representation of a time in your life when you felt emotion that was too hard to put into words." The artist's responses will be presented in the Drexel Founding Collection's Rincliffe Gallery in an effort to show the practical application of empathy through art. During the exhibition artists' work will be sold, if they so choose, with half the proceeds donated to The Jed Foundation and The Trevor Project to support ongoing mental health resources for young peoples. Jennifer Taub is a legal scholar and advocate, devoted to making complex business law topics engaging inside and outside of the classroom. Her research and writing focuses on corporate governance, banking and financial market regulation, and white collar crime. Similarly, her advocacy centers on “follow the money” matters—promoting transparency and opposing corruption. She joined the faculty of Western New England University School of Law in fall of 2020.

Exhibition from March 11, 2022 through March 2023. On March 11, the Anthony J. Drexel Picture Gallery in the Main Building will open A New Kind of House, a year-long exhibition celebrating eight years of Writers Room—a university-community literary arts program engaged in creative placemaking and art for social justice. The photography and writing of students and neighbors, displayed alongside and in conversation with pieces from The Drexel Collection, will engage in a rich dialogue about the changing face of our university and surrounding neighborhoods.

Writers Room is a diverse, intergenerational collective of students/alumni, faculty/staff, and neighborhood residents whose work demonstrates a desire for collaborative opportunities in our joint communities. A New Kind of House is created in partnership between Writers Room, ArtistYear and The Drexel Collection. Supported in part by Canon CSA and the Philadelphia Cultural Fund. The exhibition is curated by Lori Waselchuk.

Since 1983, cryptocurrency has been a means for people to make and distribute currency outside of traditional banking systems. According to an NBC News poll, 20% of the population has traded in cryptocurrency with 42% of people from ages 18 to 34 trading. What once was marginal has become mainstream, even being advertised in Super Bowl commercials, with celebrity spokespeople. Yet many people still have no idea what cryptocurrency is, how to get involved with it, or why they should. This panel seeks to address the whats and hows and whys of cryptocurrency while also addressing the implications of its regulation and the degree to which the system challenges business-as-usual investing.

The Resurgence and Rebranding of Facilitated Communication and Why You Should Care (2/2/2023)

This two-part conference will address the resurgence of new variants of facilitated communication (FC) that have appeared across the country, including in the Philadelphia area. A school in Newtown Square uses a variant of FC called “The Rapid Prompting Method” (RPM); an FC clinic in Springfield provides training in a variant of FC called “Spelling to Communicate” (S2C); a charter school in Philadelphia has a student, featured on WHYY TV, using S2C. The Lower Merion School District has been sued by parents for refusing to let their son use S2C in school. Conference speakers will discuss the problems with FC and its variants, why it nonetheless appeals to so many people, and what the evidence-based alternatives are in terms of authentic augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) tools, research-informed routes to language learning, and reasonable educational accommodations.
