Chair Yoga: Stretches for Office Workers (15 Wellness Points)* (5/21/2024)

This short, accessible workshop will be a hands-on movement class. Our Wellness Administrator Monica Fauble, Licensed Acupuncturist & Yoga Teacher, will lead you through a series of stretches that can be done in a chair, at your desk, in your office, or even at home! You will need a chair (without wheels preferred) and some water. Also be near a wall, as we may stretch against the wall.

You will also experience guided breathwork, meditation, and grounding exercises that you can use to destress and reset throughout the day.

You don’t necessarily need to change into “workout” clothes to attend, but you will not be able to fully participate if you are wearing tight or restrictive clothing or clothes that you’re afraid will rip or tear if you stretch and move. Please use your judgment about what to wear.

All bodies and all “fitness” levels are welcome to attend this class. We will offer more do-able and more difficult variations of each posture to help you turn up the heat or take it down a notch according to what you need.

Registration is required in Career Pathway. The Zoom link for this webinar will be shared in the email you receive when you register. As long as you are signed into Zoom when you attend (you can confirm that you are signed in by checking that your name appears in the Zoom participants list) you will be marked as having attended and you will receive wellness points six weeks after attending. You will receive a completion email from Career Pathway after attendance for this event has been completed.

*Participants in our Wellness Incentive Program are eligible to earn 15 points (a $15 credit) for attending this event. You must sign-in to receive credit.

You must register for the Health Advocate Wellness Incentive Program AND complete your annual Personal Health Profile before you will be eligible to receive any payouts. Exhibition by appointment only on view February 19, 2024 through July 26, 2024. Reunion Tour explores the connections between the 1960s cultural revolution, music and the brain and the creation and interest in merchandise specifically surrounding the music scene. Reunion Tour once again brings together Westphal’s Art & Art History, Graphic Design and Music Industry programs and the College of Arts and Sciences Psychology department, to tell the story of music and its cultural and aesthetic influence. In a companion exhibition Sound – students created screenprint posters in the Screen Print II course with Professor Jen Blazina, showing their interpretation of sound. Electrified Reunion Tour highlights Drexel’s collection materials and faculty connections with the history of the Electric Factory and music in Philadelphia as well as demonstrating the connection between collections and exhibitions with curriculum at Drexel.

Please join us for this Migration, Ethnicity, Racism, and Health Group (MERHG) event featuring Dr. Gabriella Buccini, assistant professor of Social and Behavioral Health at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Dr. Buccini's talk will go into detail about how the strengthening maternal and child health and nutrition is critical to achieving the Healthy People 2030 Goals.

Dr. Buccini will discuss how an implementation science project utilized a community-based participatory research (CBPR) approach to co-create WITH the community the Early Responsive Nurturing Care for Food Security (EARN-FS) system-level intervention to promote equitable care for food security – (i) universal screening, (ii) referrals to access existing health-nutrition & other nurturing care resources, and (iii) care coordination to achieve pathways for food security.

Gabriela Buccini, Ph.D., MSc, IBCLC, is an Assistant Professor of Social and Behavioral Health. Dr. Buccini's academic training is focused on epidemiology, public health maternal child nutrition, and implementation science methods.

Therapeutic Art Making to Address Burnout (15 Wellness Points)* (5/21/2024)

In this workshop, we will discuss what burnout is, and create a piece of artwork as a way to self-reflect on managing its symptoms. Participants will be guided in creating an "inner flame" image using pencils, paints, and/or markers. After creating a visual depiction of their flame, participants will write down the things in their life that fuel and sustain this fire and keep them fulfilled and content in life. Once finished, group members will have the opportunity to share about their art pieces and get feedback from others. No previous art making experience is necessary.

Our presenter Nora Einbender-Luks (she/they) is an art therapy and counseling master's candidate at Drexel, intern student therapist at Collage Therapy Collective, and practicing visual artist.

Boundaries of Diversity in Clinical Trials

Cassie’s Custom-Design Major is titled “Neuroscience” and pulls from biology, psychology, and medical sociology. For her capstone project, she aims to show that geography and education levels in the United States are a few reasons for the lack of diversity within biomedical research. Cassie will utilize the resources provided by the National Library of Medicine (clinicaltrial.gov) to collect data on the location of clinical trial sites and calculate the Flesch Reading Ease Test and Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level Test of trial summaries from Alzheimer’s Disease treatment trials to compare to the prevalence of Alzheimer’s Disease and the reading abilities of an average person. These efforts are meant to highlight that certain individuals are underserved by biomedical research, due to the social determinants of health, which will lead to a lack of diversity in results collected by industry.
