Electrified: Reunion Tour (6/12/2024)

Exhibition by appointment only on view February 19, 2024 through July 26, 2024. Reunion Tour explores the connections between the 1960s cultural revolution, music and the brain and the creation and interest in merchandise specifically surrounding the music scene. Reunion Tour once again brings together Westphal’s Art & Art History, Graphic Design and Music Industry programs and the College of Arts and Sciences Psychology department, to tell the story of music and its cultural and aesthetic influence. In a companion exhibition Sound – students created screenprint posters in the Screen Print II course with Professor Jen Blazina, showing their interpretation of sound. Electrified Reunion Tour highlights Drexel’s collection materials and faculty connections with the history of the Electric Factory and music in Philadelphia as well as demonstrating the connection between collections and exhibitions with curriculum at Drexel.

Exhibition from June 12 through December 13, 2024. Even from its beginning in 1891, Drexel was a pioneer in promoting education for women. The original Drexel Institute of Art, Science and Industry consisted of eleven programs . One of these departments was the Department of Domestic Economy, which was one of the first of its kind outside of schools that were dedicated solely to the education of women. This exhibition shows the history of Westphal College from the early years of the Home Economics program to its push into art and design in the latter half of the 20th century to the college today. Featuring photographs and letters from Drexel University Archive s and pieces from the Drexel Founding Collection, the exhibition highlights the people, programs and practices that have been pivotal to Westphal’s growth from one of the earliest academic programs for women.

This exhibition was curated by Priya Vaswani, Photography & Art History '24 and designed by Will Schumacher, Graphic Design '24.

An opening reception will be held on June 12th from 5 - 7 PM. RSVP required.

Yoga for Anxiety (15 Wellness Points)* (6/12/2024)

This gentle yoga and breathing class will be a hands-on movement class. Our Wellness Administrator Monica Fauble, Licensed Acupuncturist & Yoga Teacher, will lead you through a series of stretches and breathing practices that can be done at home or in your office.

You will also experience guided breathwork, meditation, and grounding exercises that you can use to destress and reset throughout the day.

You don’t necessarily need to change into “workout” clothes to attend, but you will not be able to fully participate if you are wearing tight or restrictive clothing or clothes that you’re afraid will rip or tear if you stretch and move. Please use your judgment about what to wear.

All bodies and all “fitness” levels are welcome to attend this class. We will offer more do-able and more difficult variations of each posture to help you turn up the heat or take it down a notch according to what you need.

Please register in Career Pathway. The Zoom link will be sent via email from Career Pathway once you register.

*Participants in our Wellness Incentive Program are eligible to earn 15 points (a $15 credit) for attending this event. Your name must appear in the participants box in Zoom (you must be signed in to Zoom with your name) in order to receive wellness credit. You will receive an email from Career Pathway confirming your attendance after attendance has been completed. Wellness points will appear in your Health Advocate profile in six weeks.

You must register for the Health Advocate Wellness Incentive Program AND complete your annual Personal Health Profile before you will be eligible to receive any payouts. Please join the Drexel Climate Change and Urban Health Research Center (CCUH) and the Climate Change and Urban Health in Latin America (SALURBAL Climate) project for a webinar featuring Stella Hartinger, PhD, Associate Professor at Cayetano Heredia University in Peru. She is an environmental health specialist and leads the Unit for Environmental Development, Health and Environment and co-directs CLIMA, the Center for Latin-American Research on Climate Change and Health. Dr. Hartinger will present a talk titled "Examining the 2023 Latin America Report of the Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change."

The Pennoni Honors College would like to invite you to another Shakespeare Read-Aloud for all interested students, staff, faculty, parents, and friends of the Pennoni Honors College. We will be reading The Comedy of Errors and discussing the play as we go along.

The Comedy of Errors is a farcical play that revolves around mistaken identity and misunderstandings. The plot follows two sets of identical twins, separated at birth, who unknowingly find themselves in the same town. As they encounter various characters, confusion ensues, leading to a series of hilarious and improbable situations. With its witty dialogue, slapstick humor, and clever wordplay, Shakespeare explores themes of love, family, and the absurdity of human nature.
