Now in its third year, the Call for Code Global Challenge is a multi-year global initiative that rallies developers, visionaries, and problem solvers to create practical, effective, and high-quality applications based on cloud, data, and artificial intelligence that can have an immediate and lasting impact on humanitarian issues. Call for Code brings start-up, academic, community, and enterprise developers together and inspires them to solve the most pressing societal issues of our time. This year’s Call for Code Challenge has been expanded to two tracks in order to tackle two life-altering world problems: COVID-19 and climate change. These issues have the power to compromise our health, our planet and our survival - and need to be addressed now. More information about this year’s challenge can be found on the Challenge homepage: https://callforcode.org/ Additionally, in partnership with the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U), we are launching the inaugural University Edition of the 2020 Call for Code Global Challenge. This will activate student developers, like you, to tackle these world problems. Through a series of virtual hackathons, workshops and other learning opportunities, you will be enabled with the skills necessary to work as a team and create solutions to these issues. The 2020 Call for Code Global Challenge - University Edition will kick-off on Earth Day, April 22, with a virtual introduction by IBM’s Chief Developer Advocate and GM Willie Tejada and a special guest speaker to be revealed soon! Following the session, which will include a Q&A, our developer advocates will host workshops to get you started on your projects. Online Continuing Education Course: Stormwater Planning in the Era of Climate Change (6/24/2020 - 9/2/2020)

We are delighted to offer this new, online, continuing education class "Stormwater Planning in the Era of Climate Change"to be offered at Drexel University during the Summer of 2020. A maximum of 20 professional development hours (PDHs) can be obtained for the $600 registration fee.

While learning the latest science on precipitation forecasting under climate change, students enrolled in the class will work directly with a set of cities and water utilities (or your own existing clients) to develop future design storms based on the latest climate projections.

The Eureka! program is an intensive, five-year, STEM based program for rising 8th grade girls that builds their confidence and skills through hands-on opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Utilizing a whole girl approach, the program also incorporates sports and physical fitness, personal development, and college and career readiness. Eureka! broadens girls' future academic and career interests, encourages enrollment in advanced math and science courses, promotes positive risk-taking, and assists girls in developing networks of peers and mentors to support their future endeavors.

During Eureka!, girls gain first-hand knowledge through a variety of exciting and compelling activities that explore the cutting-edge world of STEM through experiences in a college campus environment. With complementary activities in healthy living, social justice, and financial literacy, Eureka!'s approach fosters educational, professional and personal development.

Freedom Mortgage is hiring for our Entry Level Mortgage Advisor Program called the "First Flyer Development Program".  It is a yearlong, paid training program to become, after successful completion of the program, a Licensed Loan Advisor. The Loan Advisor position, after graduation from the First Flyer Program, is a customer focused, inside sales position within the Call Center. This position will be responsible for both in-bound and out-bound calls through marketing campaigns. The Loan Advisor will conduct the initial pre-qualification phone screen and prepare the loan application and necessary documentation.

Incorporating just 10 minutes of healthy activity into your day can add up to a significant difference in your health, wellbeing and quality of life. With that in mind, Human Resources’ A Healthier U Program is encouraging you to participate in our daily “Ten at 10” wellness program for faculty and professional staff. During this era of social distancing, it’s more important than ever that we find ways to maintain meaningful connections to our colleagues. This program addresses that need and also encourages life-sustaining activities that will promote physical and emotional wellbeing.

Supervisors and department heads are encouraged to set a recurring Outlook invite from 10-10:10 a.m., Monday through Friday, and invite their colleagues to participate. Include a link to this website, then check back Monday through Friday to complete the scheduled activity of the day. For larger departments, you might consider organizing activities into groups of 3-10.

If 10 a.m. is a not an ideal time for you or your department, please feel free to tweak the time to meet your needs. We encourage you to participate sometime before lunch if possible, to help you set the tone for your day.
