Beyond Literacy: Free Classes for Adults (8/25/2023)

Starting July 10th, Dornsife will be hosting GED prep classes onsite with Beyond Literacy. In order to register, learners need to register with Beyond Literacy via their website, email or over the phone. Since it is the first cycle of classes, we will be accepting new learners throughout July.

Our class times are below. This class is for learners with middle-level math, higher level reading/writing. If a prospective learner scores higher or lower, they may be placed in a class at one their other campuses.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 9-11:30am, 12:30-3pm, and 5:30-7:30pm

A mandatory reorientation session will take place on Friday, August 25 for 2Ls and 3Ls (including AJDs with one year remaining). There are also optional afternoon sessions for AJDs with two years remaining. Please refer to the below agendas to locate your corresponding schedule.

*Please note that the ice cream social will take place in the Law School lobby if there is inclement weather. During that time block, we will have “resources open availability” throughout the Law School building to help answer any questions and needs (including financial aid planning, Accesslex, pro bono, OSA, DiveIN, wellness, bar exam, library, Westlaw, Lexis, study aids, law tech, CSO and others).

On Friday August 25, the Law School will hold a reorientation for rising 2Ls in Nesbitt 111. While your fall civil procedure class will conflict with the morning presentations, we wanted to invite you to attend the afternoon presentations and social event if you are interested. (Your presence is entirely optional, as we plan to hold a similar event in the winter that will be more closely tailored to your AJD experience.)

Seeing Philadelphia (8/25/2023)

What is a city and who is it for? Who decides and who disrupts? The exhibit Seeing Philadelphia spans more than 300 years of Philadelphia history by combining perspectives from the Atwater Kent Collection of 18th-20th century images of city life along with Writers Room's contemporary, post-pandemic views of a diverse, multigenerational community of photographers, who are also writers.

This exhibition is free and open to the public at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts –America's first museum and art school.
