Advancing health equity in urban settings: where research, local politics and global policy meet

Event Description
The Urban Health Collaborative welcomes invitespeaker Natalia Linou, ScD to present on "Advancing health equity in urban settings: where research, local politics and global policy meet". Dr. Linou will focus on opportunities to advance health equity through urban policy and discuss her experience engaging with policymakers. She is a policy specialist at the United Nations Development Programme. She has worked in international development for the last decade, with the United Nations in Beirut, Lebanon and at headquarters in New York. Her current role is focused on global health where she leads a new portfolio at the nexus of environment and health, with a focus on urbanization. Previously she served as Science Advisor to the New York City Health Commissioner, Dr. Mary Bassett, where she worked on a number of strategic initiatives, including the city’s mental health roadmap and the development of community health profiles. Natalia is a graduate of Harvard College and has a doctoral degree from the Harvard Chan School of Public Health in social epidemiology.

The Urban Health Collaborative's distinguished speaker series "New Directions in Urban Health Research and Action" focuses on innovative approaches to improving urban health both in the United States and abroad.
