November 17: Fluvial Macroinvertebrates
Meet Entomology graduate student Bolortsetseg Erdenee. Boloroo studies macroinvertebrates, which include leeches, worms and insects (e.g. beetles, flies and bugs) that live in water systems. Her research has allowed her to become an expert in catching and identifying insects. Learn how to catch the coolest insects by testing out field gear and how to sort and identify them under microscopes. See examples of insects collected locally, in the Western United States and Mongolia. Figure out how different they are by comparing their body sizes, shapes and functions. |
