Event Description
The Communication, Culture and Media program welcomes to campus Sarah J. Jackson, Ph.D., Presidential Associate Professor at the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania. A scholar of the public sphere, Dr. Jackson studies how media, journalism, and technology are used by and represent marginalized publics, with a focus on communication by and about Black and feminist activists. Dr. Jackson will discuss her forthcoming book, Hashtag Activism: Networks of Race and Gender Justice (MIT Press 2020), which focuses on the use of Twitter in contemporary social movements.
