Please plan to eat lunch before or after this event. We know there are numerous
by-products of sitting meditation. With a steady practice, we may become
more calm, less anxious, more productive and organized, neater, more patient
and compassionate, happier and more alive. So what do we mean when we talk
about the idea of no-gain in meditation? And how do we reconcile all the
benefits with having no goal? The
presentation will include a 20-minute period of sitting, with instruction and
guidance. Brand new beginners and experienced meditation practitioners are
welcome to attend. Our presenter Claire Slemmer has been practicing Zen for 20 years, and has been a student of Barry Magid for
over a decade. She received Denkai or permission to teach from him in
2011. She has also trained in pastoral care with the New York Zen Center
for Contemplative Care. Claire teaches a precepts class and gives Jukai,
trains officiants, and conducts ceremonies and weddings. She is a
semi-retired actor. This
workshop is open to all Drexel University faculty and professional staff
members. Contact Monica Fauble, Wellness Administrator, for more
