Event Description
On average, women earn 78 cents for every dollar a man earns. The Equal Pay Act prohibits pay discrimination based on sex, but it is limited to pay discrimination between employees who are performing the same job at the same location. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) enforces the Equal Pay Act and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which prohibit gender based compensation discrimination. Come learn about your equal pay rights and the reasons behind the wage gap from EEOC and the U.S. Department of Labor Women’s Bureau.
This workshop will be presented by Rose Holandez, US Department of Labor and Mary Tiernan, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
This workshop is part of Women Herstory Month and is CEO LEAD Certified.
Refreshments will be provided.
