Event Description
Are you interested in the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Competition Team? If not, consider this. 98% of all federal and state civil cases settle before trial and a significant percentage of criminal law cases are resolved through plea bargaining, a form of negotiation. As a member of the ADR Competition Team, you can learn and practice client-counseling and negotiation skills, which are equally valuable in litigation or transactional legal careers. Or you can focus on representing clients in mediation and arbitration, two of the most used processes to resolve legal disputes. In other words, the ADR Team focuses on pre-trial skills all lawyers need to perfect: client counseling, negotiation, mediation and arbitration.
The ADR Team is holding an information session on Thursday March 28, 12:05-12:55 in Room 440. This session is mandatory for those who are interested in tryouts for the 2019-2020 competition teams. 1Ls, don’t worry about missing your criminal law Dean’s Scholar session on March 28. The DS sessions will be held at 1:00-2:00 pm on March 28 in the same rooms as always (Prof. Tibbs’s section in Room 340 and Prof. Kalhan’s section in Room 440). |
