Event Description Nobel Laureate James Allison, PhD, will present the 2019 Franklin Institute Laureate Lecture on April 10 at 11 a.m. in Geary Auditorium A. The event will be videoconferenced to Queen Lane Auditorium B.
The title of his presentation is Immune Checkpoint Blockade in Cancer Therapy: New Insights, Opportunities and Prospects for Cures.
Dr. Allison is chair of immunology and executive director of the immunotherapy platform at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He received the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his discovery, alongside Japanese immunologist Tasuku Honjo, MD, PhD, of cancer therapies that utilize the immune system to attack tumor cells.
Dr. Allison is the recipient of the 2019 Benjamin Franklin Medial in Life Science from the Franklin Institute. |
