"Memento" Art Exhibit Opening Event
Start Date: 4/8/2019Start Time: 3:00 PM
End Date: 4/8/2019End Time: 5:00 PM

Event Description
Memento is a diptych portrait series on the #MeToo movement that alumnae Rachel Wisniewski created in 2017. The exhibit focuses on the millions of stories of sexual misconduct that go unreported and unnoticed by the media. The first image within each diptych is a current portrait of a survivor, and the second image is of the survivor holding a photograph of herself at the age when she can first remember being harassed or assaulted. The definition of the word “memento” is “an object kept as a reminder or souvenir of a person or event.”

The event will begun with an opening event and chance to meet the artist on April 8th at 3 pm. To register for this event, visit goo.gl/vwwheu

The exhibit will be displayed until April 15th.

Awarded the Jacob Johnson Memorial Grant in January 2018. Published by Vox in October 2018. Written up in the Philadelphia Inquirer in October 2018.
